Happy December everyone! Can you believe it's already December? I can't! We have plenty of exciting things happening in the classroom this month.
In reading this month we will be completing a unit on legends. We will be focusing on close reading and fluency as we read different legends in our reading groups. This week, we read a Native American legend, The Legend of Indian Corn. We will be reading many other legends through out the month.
We received a new Einstein Kit this week! We will start our new science unit on Land and Water tomorrow. The students will be learning about the water cycle, erosion, and many other concepts in this unit.
In math, we are currently working on Unit 4. We will finish Unit 4 approximately in a couple of weeks.
This week your child brought home a note in regards to our Christmas book exchange. As a reminder, we will be doing a book exchange as a gift exchange for Christmas. We will be doing the exchange with our Christmas Party on December 22nd. If you would like to order the books through our Scholastic Book Order, you're more than welcome to do that. Book orders are due December 9th in order to ensure we receive them on time.
If you ordered our Favorite Christmas Memories book that we created as a class, keep an eye out for it as we should be receiving them sometime in the next week. I'm so excited to see how it turned out!!
Important Dates in December:
-December 9th: Book Orders due
-December 14th: Christmas concert
-December 20th: Caroling at the Nursing Homes (We will be going to Autumn's Fields, Helping Hearts, and Oak Creek)
-December 22nd: Class Christmas Party
-December 23rd-January 2nd: winter break
Have a wonderful Christmas!
