4th Quarter is already almost half over. Mid-quarters will go home Friday, May 5th. Before you know it this school year will be over and yet there is so much to do! In science, we officially have chicken eggs incubating. They should be hatching on or around May 16th. The students are currently learning the development of a chick embryo in the egg and also how to properly care for incubating eggs. Our frogs also arrived last week! Last week we focused on learning about the African Dwarf Frog. This is the species of the frogs we have in our classroom. They're typically found in Congo, Africa. Later this week we should be receiving our new animal friend- the Fiddler Crab.
We are currently doing book clubs in reading. The students are reading their selected books on a daily basis and are even running their own book discussions. This is our last unit for the school year.
Our last math test will be May 19th. We currently are in the middle of Unit 8, working on lines, angles and triangles.
In social studies we are finishing up learning the different regions around the United States. Students will be tested on the location and spelling of the states in the United States on May 26th.
Thank you to all the parents who chaperoned for our field trip to Barkhausen. Fourth grade had blast! We took a hike in the woods and learning about different plants and trees that live in our area. We also learned how to find the age of a tree! Our second program was exploring pond creatures. Students used nets to investigate different water creatures.
Have a wonderful May!
