Our chick has hatched! Out of the 21 eggs we had, unfortunately only one hatched. Even with only one hatching, the fourth graders were still very excited! For three weeks they learned about the development of a chick embryo, preparing for hatching chicks, how to care for baby chicks, and the anatomy of the chicken.
We currently have frogs, fiddler crabs, and millipedes in the classroom. Students are learning about these animals and their habits as well as what they they need in order to survive. Students will have the opportunity to adopt these animals for pets after our unit is over in a couple of weeks. Students will need to provide a habitat for any critters they want to adopt.

Our Madison trip is in just two weeks! As a reminder, our Madison trip is on Friday, May 20th. Please make sure your child is here for 6:20am. The bus will leave at 6:30am! Also, all lunches need to be in a paper bag or something that can be thrown away. Chaperones will receive a packet of information that morning, so they know what to expect for the day. For the next couple weeks students will be learning about our government, including the three branches, in order to prepare them for our Madison trip.
