January was a busy month in the 4th grade classroom. We finished our Unit 5 on measurements in math. This week we will be starting Unit 6 on fractions. We also finished our biography unit in reading and writing and are now starting a unit on historical fictions. Each reading group will focus on a historical fiction novel. In February, we will begin learning on how to write an informative paper. Lastly, we just finished our Wisconsin unit that we've been working on in social studies since the beginning of the year. Students worked hard and took a great deal of time taking the information they've learned about our state and making posters on it. Students are now learning about our globe, continents, and oceans. Students will be tested on this next Monday, February 6th. They will also be tested on their addresses and phone numbers as I've learned many students didn't know theirs.
We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on February 9th. Students should have their card boxes ready for this day. Students do not have to bring Valentines, however if they wish to, please have a Valentine for every student. Students are also welcome to bring a snack for the party if they wish to do so.
Important dates in February:
-Monday, February 6th: Continents and Oceans Test and Address and Phone Number Test
-Thursday, February 9th: Cake Walk, Valentine's Day Party
-Friday, February 10th: No School
-Friday, February 24th: Field trip to Barlow Planetarium
