Hello 4th Grade Families,
Hope you all are enjoying the winter weather! The 4th grade class definitely has been! During recess time, 4th graders have been working together, creating the largest snowball I have ever seen! They're all very proud of their snowball!
When we came back from winter break in January, we started doing math groups everyday, instead of whole group instruction. The students really have been enjoying doing math groups. Doing math in groups allows me to give each student more one-on-one instruction, while other students get the opportunity to play math games on the SmartBoard, do their homework, and work on other math skills, such as multiplication/division fluency.
In social studies we have been focusing on the Southeast and Southwest states in the United States. We will be focusing on the Northern States in a couple weeks. At the end of the unit, there will be a test on the United States; where they will have to distinguish where each state is located. I've already encouraged 4th graders to start studying, so they won't be so overwhelmed when the test comes up.
Hope you all have a wonderful February!
