October has been an exciting month for us in the classroom! We just finished our Einstein Unit on Land and Water. The students loved it! Their favorite activity was The Dam Project. Each group created a land with a "town" on it. Their land was required to have a river that ran right through the town. Their job was to create a dam that would protect the town from flooding. All groups did a fantastic job in working together and engineering a creative dam! In math, we have been finishing up Unit 2. We will have our Unit 2 Test on Friday, November 6th. Once a week, we have started doing math groups, instead of whole group instruction. This allows me to teach at the pace of each student and help focus on what they need specific instruction on. After Christmas, my goal is for us to do math groups everyday. This week has been our first week into using Class Dojo in the classroom. So far it has been going really well. We have been using our Dojo Points with our straws in the classroom. Each Dojo Point equals a straw. Every Friday, students will cash in their straws for prizes. Our first quarter ends this week. Report cards will be going home Thursday, November 12th. I hope you all have a wonderful November and a Happy Thanksgiving! |
